Active Birth Yoga Classes

Gentle yoga is ideally suited for pregnancy. Active Birth Yoga blends yoga with natural childbirth education and uses a variety of practices to nurture and balance the mind, body and spirit of the mother and connect her with her unborn child.

Special features of our classes are the focus on small groups and the emphasis on sharing knowledge and supporting each other.  

A typical class might include
  • yoga stretches for comfort during pregnancy
  • postures that may be useful for birth
  • breathwork, visualisation and meditation
  • how partners may help
  • pelvic floor exercises
  • guided relaxation
  • information on pregnancy, birth and parenting
  • access to resources and up-to-date research
  • time to connect and make friends with others
  • visits from new mothers and babies
  • birth stories
Classes are weekly and regular attendance is encouraged. Women can start classes any time from 12 weeks pregnant, and continue right up to the birth. Concessions may be available - please check with the teacher.
