Active Birth Yoga / Pregnancy Yoga I have three children and have used Active Birth Yoga for all pregnancies. I feel these classes are the only way to prepare yourself for birth. You get great yoga, support from women in a similar situation and lots and lots of information. I can't recommend these classes enough. Robin Attending Jane's yoga for pregnancy classes helped me through a long hard labour. The post-natal and baby massage classes helped me through the transition to motherhood. Toni Cannard Active birth yoga drew out my long-hidden confidence to trust my body and my intuition. A special time in a circle of loving, expectancy women together supporting each other on the journey to motherhood. Rosalie Active Birth Yoga with Jane helped me develop the inner knowing and confidence to experience two great births, through continued practice and persistence I developed a deep understanding of our natural ability to birth. Louise Yoga For Pregnancy classes helped me connect with my body and my growing baby. This enabled me to have confidence in my ability to give birth. The connectedness I felt with my growing baby provided me with an ideal springboard for my journey to motherhood. My teacher showed me how to identify where I hold tension in my body and how to release it using relaxation and other techniques. In this way I was able to work with the sensations of labour so as not to interfere with the secretion of natural painkillers. As a result I have experienced four intervention free, awe-inspiring births. Corinne I am so grateful to have done pregnancy yoga with Jane. It was so much more than simply staying fit whilst pregnant. Jane helped me prepare for birth both physically and mentally. I learnt at pregnancy yoga all the things that you don't read in the baby books! Jane would usually start each class with a chat and end most classes with a new mum returning to tell her birth story. I found Jane's approach to birthing very gentle and informative in a non-judgemental way. During my months of pregnancy yoga, Jane installed in me the confidence to seek the birth I wanted. Armed with knowledge from Jane and the stories from other yoga mums, I changed my hospital and found a more supportive doctor. Before starting yoga I assumed I simply had no say in the matter! When I went into labour I felt very calm and empowered with the knowledge of what was happening to my body. I used many of the techniques I had learnt at yoga during my labour. I am delighted that I had such a wonderful birth and I thank Jane for putting me on the right path. Anita When my wife did pregnancy yoga, she would come and explain some of the positions. I wanted to know as much as possible about how to help my wife during labour, so we made a two hour appointment to have a one-on-one session with Jane. Jane showed me photos of women's expressions during labour and explained how my wife would act and feel. So when my wife stopped talking and looking at me, I didn't think "what have I done wrong" or "why doesn't my wife like me any more" - I thought, "great, she must be getting close! Seamus (from a man's perspective) Transitions - Our Postnatal Support Group I really looked forward to coming to Transitions each week - it was a gentle and fun way to explore what it means to be a ‘mum’ and all the changes to my life and relationships this new identity brings. I loved the chance to meet like-minded women and felt very supported by Jane and Suzanne. It was great ‘me time’ and ‘me and baby time’. Thanks so much. Nicole Having a safe and warm environment to come to each week helped to open up my heart post-baby. Emma The trust and connectedness facilitated by two wonderful, experienced women created a bond strong enough for all members of the group to continue meeting past the workshop's completion. We are still meeting four months later. Emma As a new mum I had no friends with similar age babies, so I was keen to do something to get bub and I out of the house and meet new people. Transitions with Jane and Suzanne is so much more than a mother's group. At Transitions I enjoyed going deep with women who have become my friends. Jane and Suzanne guided the group gently, with wisdom and compassion, as we talked about the ups and downs of our new roles as mums. It was nice to put aside the social masks and talk genuinely about - well - just about everything! Jane and Suzanne would start each day with a "check in", when we would stop and think about how we were feeling at that moment. It was so valuable - I realised that as a new mum I simply hadn't had time to stop and think about how I was actually feeling. Jane and Suzannes' skills as group leaders and Gestalt therapists really helped. I appreciate the non-judgemental support given by Jane and Suzanne and the other mums at Transitions. The women in my group were so dissapointed when Transitions ended, we have kept the tradition going and meet at the same time every week. And whilst the odd smelly nappy is discussed, the group is still so much more thanks to the depth and tecniques we gained at Transitions. Anita It's not often that an experience leaves such a lasting impact, and I thank you both for this opportunity. I would love every mother to experience the new 'tradition' of women-centred care. It's a practice which should be prioritised and protected in our society for the benefit of the women, their children and extended families. As they say, a happy mum is a happy child / family! Emma There is so much that I gained from this group that is hard to put into words. It was nurturing, supportive, honest/real, encouraging, helpful, humourous, and yummy (i.e. delicious morning teas!). Being a part of this group gave me the opportunity to talk about some very real issues that I otherwise wouldn't have been comfortable sharing in another mothers group, e.g. relationship issues, body changes, sex, motherhood! The guidance and facilitation that Jane and Suzanne issues in a way that felt safe. Fiona Training
I thoroughly enjoyed my training with Jane Campbell-Kaye. The training was comprehensive and delivered in a way that allowed me to develop skills and knowledge gradually throughout the course. I highly recommend Jane's training to anyone wanting to work with mothers during or after their pregnancy. Jane's active birth yoga teacher training course inspired me and gave me a new direction when I needed it most. I will be forever grateful for the training that Jane gave me. It enabled me to help other pregnant women and new mothers during these precious times. The training gave me practical skills with plenty of information and resources to pass on but more importantly, it gave me confidence. Unlike other training, I finished the course not only with knowledge but ready to teach classes due to the practical component of the course. I find teaching yoga for pregnancy to be a truly fulfilling experience. Though I have taken a break for the last few years to fit in other study, I still miss it the interaction with women and their babies. Jane's training was both wide, deep, and long-lasting, and the best possible preparation for this wonderful work. Toni Cannard In this day and age where yoga training courses are a 'dime-a-dozen' it can be hard to tell if you are feeding the commercial machine of training courses or whether you are embarking on something from the heart. Jane Campbell-Kaye is certainly the latter. Her teaching style embodies the essence of yoga. Having participated as her apprentice for Active Birth teaching training over the past two years I am continually in awe as she delivers her vast knowledge base to meet the mothers she teachers on their own level. Her style of teaching cannot be simply 'parroted'; it is something you submerge yourself in and watch your own understanding develop and grow. The theoretical aspect of her training is extremely well developed so as to draw out a comprehensive understanding of the entire process of pregnancy through to birth. Her support and access to resources is something she shares willingly. We are privileged to still have access to such a teacher, there is no substitute for experience. I hope Jane does not find retirement too appealing anytime in the near future, she still has SO much to offer (I'm not done with her yet)! Stacey Enchelmaier Training with Jane Campbell-Kaye prepared me as a yoga teacher to take Pregnancy, Active Birth and Postnatal Yoga classes. The course included an in-depth study of the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, as well as thorough research into complications of pregnancy and birth. The training attuned me to the profound physical, emotional, mental and spiritual transitions of pregnancy and birth and equipped me to teach a range of hatha yoga practices suitable for pregnancy, labour and post-natally with a clear understanding of contra-indications. The course gave me an opportunity to gain teaching experience with supervision and included a comprehensive childbirth education component. Jane’s approach is very thorough and encouraging. She generously shared her knowledge, experience and resources throughout the course and has continued to be available as a mentor. Ulrike Weckes I feel extremely fortunate and priviledged to have experienced my Active Birth Yoga training with Jane. To be in the presence of a lady with such knowledge, understanding, support and genuine care for the pregnant ladies in her classes was very uplifting and inspiring. Each class of Jane's that I attended left me in amazement of her gifted ability to explore the simplicities of life and reassure anyone who may have come with concerns. My one-on-one training gave me the opportunity to establish a solid foundation for my own active birth yoga classes and to continue to explore the dynamics of pregnancy and yoga. Louise Pardo |
